#1187 - Live in Couple - Permanent, Full Time - Cotswolds

A live in couple are required for a large private Estate based in the Cotswolds, near Oxford. The client is looking for a couple who will stay with them for a number of years. Previous experience and longevity in similar roles absolutely essential.

The role will be housekeeper & handyperson/maintenance/all rounder. Jobs to include (but not limited to):

Housekeeper

  • Household care, cleaning, organising, and managing.

  • Laundry and ironing.

  • Silver polishing and care for the family china.

  • Cleaning and caring for household valuables including art and rugs.

  • Flower arranging and table setting with flowers from the garden.

  • Laying fires, cleaning the fireplace, and booking the annual chimney sweep service.

  • Preparing for arrival of visitors, welcoming them, and caring for their various needs.

  • Detailed attention to the preparation and presentation of the bedlinens and bathrooms.

  • Wardrobe management, including delicate laundry care.

  • Making household purchases.

  • Supporting the family chef for food/grocery orders and deliveries.

  • Table service (formal and informal). Covering events in Oxford and London (service, cleaning) as required. Cook small simple meals if the chef is not present (but this is not a major part of the role).

  • Liaison with the London team including the PA and housekeeper.

  • Happy to help care for the family dog, including looking after it, walking, feeding and taking to vet.

  • Dog lovers essential.

Maintenance

  • Overseeing and managing contractors.

  • Fulfil handyman jobs throughout the Estate and keep an eye on all maintenance issues (alongside someone else who is employed full time on Maintenance)

  • Fulfil duties in the household, such as changing light bulbs, picture hanging, light maintenance, and repairs, etc.

  • Maintaining all household appliances and gym equipment

  • Supporting the tenants where needed in the rental properties.

  • Producing monthly water and electrical readings

  • Checking the water pump reservoir everyday

  • First point of contact for all household queries

  • Running errands and shopping

  • Oversee maintenance of the swimming pool

  • Pro-actively managing pest control.

  • Oversee security concurrently with the security company and night guards.

  • Setting and maintaining all alarms

  • Ensure all annual services are kept up to date (Boilers etc.)

  • Making sure that the vehicles are always immaculately maintained.

  • Helping with events in Oxford and London - including set ups, moving furniture and serving and clearing at tables.

  • Supporting the housekeeper.

  • Assisting with Christmas decorations.

  • Full Driving license required

Hours/working days:

  • 5 day working week to include weekends (every weekend essential to work).

  • 2 days off per week (usually Wednesdays and Thursdays).

  • Any overtime given back in lieu.

  • Need to be available for annual holidays (Easter, Christmas).

  • Flexible approach to both duties and working hours/changes in schedule required.

  • Motivated, positive, and discreet attitude essential.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and pride in all work undertaken.

Beautiful two-bedroom property with large kitchen and sitting room self-contained apartment available which is part of the estate but with its own entrance. Utility bills covered by the employer. The accommodation is fully furnished.

Full references from current and past employers essential. Previous experience and longevity in similar roles essential. The accommodation is suitable possibly for a well behaved dog, but is not suitable for children. There is a car available for work use, but you will need your own car for personal use.

Salary £70,000+ depending on experience.
